Data Analysis

Abstract

Analysis can be considered as a prior step to creating data models, or it can be a final phase in itself, the objective of a project. This chapter describes a diversity of ways to analyze data, ways that depend primarily on the type of data to be analyzed and the complexity of the analysis to be performed. The chapter starts with the simplest form of analysis, which is by visualizing the data in some way and inspecting the resulting presentation. A case study is followed in which visualization is combined with clustering and segmentation in order to contrast differences between datasets.
