About the Author

Kurt Neddenriep is a senior vice president of a major Wall Street investment firm, who began his career in January of 1996 and is a founder of the Mountain West Group. Kurt enlisted in the Nevada Army National Guard in 1990 as an infantry soldier to help pay for college. He commissioned as an Armor officer in 1994 and entered the investment advisory business after completing the Armor Officer Basic Course in Fort Knox, Kentucky Kurt gained a unique perspective on financial management by simultaneously pursuing his military career in the Nevada Army National Guard as he built his financial practice. The teamwork, integrity, and professionalism that he learned as a platoon leader, troop commander, and squadron commander of over 500 armored cavalry troopers has helped shape the Mountain West Group into an efficient and effective team that is process driven. The team model was successfully put to the test when Kurt deployed to Afghanistan from January 1, 2009 to April 2010. Kurt returned to a strong team that had survived the downturn with both client portfolios and client relationships intact. Kurt retired from the Nevada Army National Guard in February 2013 as a Lieutenant Colonel and began working on Combat Finance. His awards include the Combat Action Badge and the Bronze Star Medal, both earned during his service in Afghanistan in 2009–2010.
