Summary

Marshaling is one of the most difficult and hidden parts of COM+, and you should take great care in understanding it. In this chapter, you learned what marshaling is and what is under the hood of marshaling. The basics of the RPC mechanisms are given for how marshaling works behind the scenes.

The type libraries and differences among them were discussed. Reasons for using each one were given, and from this you should be able to make the choice in any given situation.

Standard and custom marshaling were then explained with sample code to demonstrate their capabilities. This code provides the understanding necessary to jump in and get started using the marshaling interface.
