The Measurement of Color

2.1 Introduction

Life has never been more colorful. Many products are available in a wide variety of colors. Color measurement helps industry control and reproduce colors so that the consumer gets the “right” color all the time. This chapter shows how color measuring instruments and calculations simulate what people see, describes several of the multi-dimensional color spaces within which the results of color measurement can be plotted and color atlases which may be associated with those color spaces.
