Extreme Programming (XP) and Industrial XP teams rely on the Planning Game to create the Release Plans and Iteration Plans that time box the team’s work and commitments. In these contexts, planning is intended to be a concise, disciplined, highly focused collaboration with the various members of the project community. Customers prioritize stories of customer value. Developers estimate the work it will take to complete the stories. Testers provide guidance to both about how to ensure delivery of the expected functionality. Together, these project team members form a commitment about how to deliver the work and how to communicate progress around that commitment.
