Connecting to a Database

Earlier ColdFusion developers used to display the data and presentation on the same page. There was no "data layer" for developing software. It was all combined on the same page. This made the pages much longer, and there was much more to work through to figure out bugs, or page enhancements. It was very close to what we call "information overload". CFCs change that by encapsulating the data as a separate layer. The interface serves as an easy way to force and handle data, to and from your database.
