3.6. Conclusion

This chapter includes a comprehensive discussion on current network schemes that adapt to changes in various dynamic factors. Dynamic factors that affect a network are resources, application data and user behaviors. Adaptive schemes employed in four basic network functions are presented and analyzed in detail.

In conclusion, networks that employ adaptive schemes are usually more efficient and can provide better service continuity under dynamic environments. Due to the foreseeable wide deployment of wireless networks and new types of services, networks in the future will exhibit even higher degrees of dynamics and adaptive schemes in networks will become even more important.
