Preface

My first teaching experience was a disaster. The year was 1977, and the venue was the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. It was an important time for me. I had just left the University of Chicago with a doctorate in economics, along with a full head of ideas and plenty of energy. Economics wasn’t only my vocation; it was my passion. I was about to jump into action at USC’s graduate school of business. What could be better?
