Treatment of coronary artery disease using angioplasty in conjunction with drugs has progressed significantly over the past 10 years. Balloon angioplasty is an ingenious, minimally invasive alternative to open heart surgery as a means of restoring vital blood flow to heart muscles but it often results in renarrowing of the arteries.
