Networking: The Basics

Many relationships begin from the process of networking. This overused word often conjures up images of people running around passing out business cards. For the sake of clarity, here’s my definition: Networking is the act of building mutually beneficial relationships with people who can in some way support your personal and professional development and assist you in achieving your goals.

Networking enables you to meet a variety of people who can help you by sharing information and knowledge with you. In fact, I recommend that you set up “knowledgesharing meetings” with people you have identified as having knowledge and information that is critical to your success.
