Finding and Nurturing Mentoring Relationships

Finding a mentor isn’t necessarily an easy thing to do. Many people get stymied by the process. Start by doing your homework. Look for people you admire who are several levels above you in your organization and people you respect in your external environment, such as leaders in your trade or professional associations.

Make sure potential mentors are competent and experienced and recognized for their leadership, knowledge, experience, and wisdom. Basically, you want someone who is highly successful.
