When I started my coaching practice, I immediately began looking for mentors who were also professional coaches. I met Sydney Rice Harrild, whom I mentioned in Chapter One, shortly after Success on Our Own Terms was published. I was presenting at a women’s business conference at which women business owners were given space to display their products and promotional material. Sydney ended up with an undesirable spot in the back of the room that received little traffic. Undaunted, she picked up her brochures and moved to a highly visible spot in the hallway.
