Synopsis

ec2-create-snapshot volumeid

Creates a differential snapshot of the specified volume ID and stores the snapshot in Amazon S3. It is best to take snapshots of “frozen” filesystems to avoid data integrity concerns. It is OK to begin writing to the volume again after this command has returned successfully.
