Cloud SQL provisions fully managed MySQL community edition databases. In the cloud of 2nd generation instance, it support MySQL 5.6 and 5.7. As we already know, the instance can provide as much as 416 GB of RAM and 10 TB of storage; and that is huge.
If you allotted less storage while provisioning and after few months you have a requirement of increasing the storage, you are free to do that.
Cloud SQL also supports first generation MySQL 5.5 and 5.6 but provides limited instance types of up to 16 GB of RAM and 500 GB of storage. Cloud SQL has regions covered in USA, EU, and Asia.
