Climate Change Management: What Have We Learnt from the Asian Experience

Introduction

Climate change is a global phenomenon that can profoundly alter Asia’s economic future and livelihoods by exacerbating poverty and resource scarcity. One of the main causes of climate change is the increase in greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions, primarily carbon dioxide (CO₂) (IPCC 2012, 2013; US Environmental Protection Agency 2016). Globalization since the 1980s and rapid industrialization in Asia, increased emission of GHGs raising temperatures and sea levels.
