Take a Chance

You will have your own journey of faith. If you are a person who already believes in the goodness of humankind, your trip may be short and sweet. If you are a diehard pessimist, then you must find that initial point of beginning and say, “I think I can, I think I can.” Wherever you are between these two extremes, you will need to begin. Put your faith in the service of others.

“But how can I do this? What if I don’t get paid? What if I get cheated?” Do you hear yourself? Do you want to go through life never trusting in anybody or anything? Sometimes you have to take a chance. What is the risk? Have you gotten the short end of the stick before? Did your caution and lack of faith protect you? If your answer is no, then what do you have to lose? Accept that sometimes you’re going to be left holding the bag, and there is nothing you can do about it. But by putting your faith in others, you open yourself up to winning all those other times when your previous reticence might have caused you to fail. It is better to try than to have never made the effort. This is a crossroads. You are at the next step. Either you follow the arrows or you may as well go home.

Start with the next customer who crosses your path. Start with your boss, who is a client for your services. Start with an employee, because you are giving that person an opportunity.
