You Have a Choice

You can build your children up or you can tear them down. You can tell your spouse you love him or her or you can find fault at every turn. You can say the kindest thing in the kindest way or you can be a critical hellion. It is a choice we make, and we do our best, but we don’t always choose well.

Thank goodness no one hears every word you say. You can be careful around certain people. Your boss may never hear a profanity from your lips, while your best friend might know you as a potty mouth. That’s how we do it. We gauge what we say, when we say it, and to whom we are speaking. No one hears it all. But then, that’s not exactly true.

One person does hear every word. That person is you. You hear it all. Sometimes you are pleased with yourself and sometimes you embarrass yourself, but there is no escaping the fact that you hear it all.

Just as the words you speak to others can please or shame, the words you speak to yourself have the power to lift you up or tear you down. Again, the decision is yours. You can choose what you say or don’t say. You have the power to speak your commitment to putting Clients First or you can say nothing.
