Don’t Be an Easy Yes

Some business coaches and business books recommend that, for life balance, you are better off learning how to say no, and we could not agree more. A strong no is often a kindness to yourself and others. Overcommitment can be a killer. It can bring stress and burnout. You don’t want to be an easy yes.

And we don’t want an easy yes. We want your yes to be made with your eyes wide open. Clients First will change you. It will change the way you think and interact with people. Clients First is not a part-time avocation. You cannot be putting your Clients First one moment and then forget about them the next. Clients First is all-in, a total immersion.

Why, you might ask, are we making this so hard? If Clients First is so good, why not make it easy? Good question. You see, it is not that Clients First is easy; it is that Clients First makes everything else easy. Deciding to put our Clients First at all times goes against the grain of much that we do. Most of our lives are about ourselves, and through selfish decisions we seek short-term easy and trade it for long-term hard. JoAnn and I were like that. We took care of each other and our families and not much else. We were passionately patriotic and had opinions on anything and everything. We thought of ourselves as quiet neighbors and good citizens. But we didn’t have a clue about helping others. We helped when asked. We gave to charities. We were happy.
