In a scene in the movie “Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix,” Ministry of Magic bureaucrat and professor Dolores Umbridge takes unkindly to Harry’s statement that students should learn how to make defensive spells so they can fight Lord Voldemort, who has returned to wreak havoc against all good witches and wizards. As punishment for his outspokenness and insubordination, Umbridge forces Harry to use a blood quill to repeatedly write, “I must not tell lies” on a piece of parchment.
