Fire prevention, detection, and suppression

Generally speaking, damages from fire attack the availability of an asset. Understanding how to protect an organization’s information assets, facilities, and people from a fire must begin at understanding the components and conditions that instigate a fire. These originating elements are addressed within this section along with the detection devices that assist in alerting the appropriate individuals of the presence of smoke and fire.

Fires are classified based on the fuel that is combusting. An appropriate suppressant must be used on these different classifications of fire. Failure to use the appropriate suppressant could easily cause increased damages and increase the potential harm to people.
