Describe the Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) standard.

The Internet Protocol Security standard (IPSec) is an IETF standard that describes a communications protocol that can be implemented. TCP/IP, the original protocol developed for the Internet, and now the primary protocol for internal communications within IT networks and across WAN links, was not designed with security in mind. The protocol was developed with the goals of guaranteed connectivity and availability.
