FDDI Troubleshooting

FDDI network segments are just as easy to troubleshoot as Ethernet LAN segments, simply because most FDDI installations use FDDI concentrators to connect all their FDDI devices to the ring. Remember from Chapter 4, "Local Area Networking," that FDDI concentrators provide the "ring" portion of the topology. When concentrators are used, the physical layout of the wiring of FDDI stations is a star topology. FDDI stations communicate to other FDDI stations via the concentrator. When FDDI concentrators are used, there is only one device associated with each FDDI port on your Cisco router.
