The Anatomy of an ISP Network

The topology of an ISP network can vary a great deal. ISP networks are built to provide specific services efficiently. Typically, there are a number of access points of presence (POPs) that are connected back to a network hub. The number of POPs and the hub size depon the size of the ISP and the geographic region being serviced. All the hubs on an ISP network are linked together via high bandwidth data circuits. All these hubs and POPs make up the ISP network.
