18.3. Preparing to Implement QoS

Implementing QoS on your network is a three-phase process. Let's start off by identifying the phases and then go through each phase in more detail:

  1. Complete a network assessment to identify traffic types and technical requirements of each type of traffic.

  2. Divide all the types of traffic into different classes so that QoS requirements can be associated to each class of traffic.

  3. Create QoS policies that meet the requirements of the classes of traffic that you have for you network.
