Section 9. Network Device Management

After a network is installed and running, the next and longest phase of any system life cycle is the management and operation phase. During the management and operation phase, the primary function is to ensure that the network and devices are functioning as originally configured; that any change in the network or system is properly tested, implemented, and documented; and that disaster recovery procedures are in place.

This section covers topics to help you manage a Cisco network. These topics include configuring SNMP, logging with a Syslog server, understanding NetFlow, and maintaining router configurations.
