The method of circuit analysis known as superposition can be your best friend when you’re faced with circuits that have lots of voltage and current sources. Superposition allows you to break down complex linear circuits composed of multiple independent sources into simpler circuits that have just one independent source. The total output, then, is the algebraic sum of individual outputs from each independent source. In this chapter, I show you just how superposition works. I also walk you through focusing on a single independent source when you have multiple sources in a circuit and using super-position to analyze circuits with two or three independent sources.
