Talk to Your Outside Auditors

Talking to outside auditors is, in a way, a lot like talking to the vendors. The difference is that the relationship with an auditor is much more trusted. Whether financial or IT, your auditor knows your company inside and out and often tailors a response to fit your situation better than a vendor could. Auditors usually are also independent of any product or consulting relationship, so they don't give you specific ways to solve a problem but can help in guiding you to a solution. You are not the auditors' only client, so they see how many different companies are tackling the same issue.
