Security has become a catch-all word to describe many diverse technologies and procedures. To an IT person, the idea of security is usually applied to data security and integrity. Network security, file integrity, and a secure database all fall into this category. To a security or facilities person, security is usually applied to perimeter, workplace, or any one of a number of systems that protect physical assets or employees. Both are correct views of security based on the views presented.
