As a high school student I fell in love with black and white 35mm photography. I spent all day in the dark room, I begged my teacher for more film. I volunteered to assist the night classes so I could spend more time developing and printing. My first job was at a film processing lab and I spent all of the money I earned there on more film so I could keep shooting. Something sort of magical was happening. I was converting moments from my life into preserved pieces of art. I was saving my experiences so they didn’t dissipate.
