Before the Internet, when you heard discussions of security, it usually included physically locking doors, safes, cabinets, and so on. Increased security meant bigger safes with more complex locks. In today’s age, security is similar, only it involves ones and zeros. Everything must be password-protected and encrypted. Firewalls protect intruders from getting to your computer at home. SSL encryption ensures that the data you send over the Internet can’t be read if it’s intercepted. As our lives increasingly intersect with the Internet, security will increasingly become important.
