Gabriela is a five-year-old Hispanic girl who is 3’6’’ and weighs 55 pounds, which puts her in the above 95th percentile and is considered obese. She presents to the psychologist for weight-loss assistance. The following information comes from Gabriela, her mother, and her medical records.

Medical: Gabriela’s doctor notes that she is concerned about her weight, particularly since it has led her to be more easily out of breath and has made it more difficult to engage in physical activity.
