1. Preliminary Statement
The Committee and the participants place on record their appreciation of the efforts made by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, to promote, strengthen and provide direction to the Women’s Studies programme in the country since the 7th Plan Period.The grant—in—aid provided by the UGC to the various Women’s Studies Centres, (WSCs) established in the University system in the 8th, 9th and 10th Plan periods, has contributed significantly to the expansion of Women’s Studies teaching, research and field action (extension programmes in the university system).
