Scheme — Compensation to and Rehabilitation of Victims of Rape and Sexual Assault

Hon’ble Supreme Court while indicating the broad parameters in assisting the victims of rape in WP (Crl.) No. 362/93 had directed the National Commission for Women to evolve a “scheme as to wipe out the tears of such unfortunate victims” within six months from the date of the judgement (19.10.94) and forward it to the Union of India (Ministry of Home Affairs) for examination.

To give effect to the aforesaid direction of the Hon’ble Court, the Commission has prepared a scheme. In formulating the scheme, the Commission is guided by three parameters given by the Supreme Court itself, namely;
