There’s something magical going on with games that educators can appreciate. Many might lament the hours spent in front of games, but others pose a formidable question: “What does that game have that my courses don’t?” The answer is more than “entertainment,” because courses can be entertaining, too. We see children with ADD tune out after 10 minutes of a lecture, yet these same students stay engaged in a game for hours at a time. What’s going on?

Fortunately, many individuals are studying this exact thing. Others, like the writers of this book who are both industry veterans and educators, have already integrated games into their classroom with much success.
