Chapter 5. Security Services Modules

One of the primary benefits of an ASA over the PIX is the ability to support security service modules (SSMs). There are two modules that exist for security purposes and one that is for interface expansion. The Content Security and Control (CSC-SSM) and the Advanced Inspection and Prevention (AIP-SSM) provide security services, while the 4GE-SSM offers additional gigabit interfaces.
