Using the Factory Reset Wizard

You can reset your Cisco router to the factory defaults by using the SDM Reset to Factory Default Wizard.

Access the wizard by clicking Reset to Factory Default on the Wizard Mode category bar. The Reset to Factory Default Wizard window opens.

This wizard contains two steps:

  • Save Running Config to PC— This function copies the router running configuration to the SDM host PC. SDM verifies that this step is completed before allowing you to continue with the reset (or erase) procedure.
  • Reset Router— Performs the actual reset procedure.
Step 1.
Click Save Running Config to PC. SDM prompts you to select a directory on your local PC where it will store the configuration file.
