Chapter 20. PIX Firewall Maintenance in Enterprise Networks

On completion of this chapter, you will be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Define key features and concepts of the Auto Update Server (AUS).

  • Install AUS.

  • Configure the AUS to update Private Internet Exchange (PIX) Firewall configuration files and upgrade images.

  • Configure the AUS to remotely manage dynamically addressed PIX Firewalls.

This chapter introduces the PIX Firewall maintenance for enterprise networks using the AUS. AUS allows you to manage PIX operating system (OS) images running on a large number of PIX Firewalls (up to 1000) and is designed to work with PIX Firewall Version 6.2 and higher.
