To provide Context-Aware Services, the Cisco Unified Wireless Network Infrastructure access points (AP) detect 802.11 devices signals and transmit their received signal strength indicator (RSSI) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values to a wireless LAN controller (WLC). Periodically, the Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS) or a Mobility Services Engine (MSE) queries the WLC for the device’s RSSI and SNR values.
