Where Are Certificates Used with the Cisco Identity Services Engine?

When you connect to a website secured with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL, a.k.a.: HTTPS), the website will use an x.509 certificate to establish that secure communication. The certificate is used for more than one function:

1. To prove “identity” of the website

2. To serve as the basis of encryption between the client (web browser) and the website
