This section examines the two main options for EIGRP to advertise default routes: to define a static default route and advertise it with EIGRP and to flag an existing route to be used also as a default route.

Advertising Static Default Routes with EIGRP

To cause the advertisement of the default routes shown in Figure 5-22, Router I1 can follow these steps:

Step 1. Create a static route default route using the ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 S0/0/0 command.
