With everything you’ve learned in Chapters 1 through 7, you’re completely ready to be introduced to the Nexus Operating System (NX-OS) command line now. This operating system runs on both Nexus and MDS devices and we’ll be using it to explore and configure these exciting, new machines.
If you’re already familiar with Cisco’s Internetworking Operating System (IOS), you’ll certainly encounter lots of similarities. But there are many differences as well, and I’ll guide you through them all to successfully complete the configuration of a NX-OS device. Once you’re comfortable with the Nexus interface, you’ll be ready to configure hostnames, banners, usernames, and more, and I’ll close the chapter with the ever-vital verification process.
