In-Band Versus Out-of-Band Management

The Cisco UCS Manager provides both options: in-band and out-of-band management. However, note that the in-band option is for server CIMC/KVM access only. Typically, the CIMC management IP addresses are used to access the server KVM via the out-of-band (OOB) management network. This KVM can now be accessed via an in-band network, too, where the traffic path is via the fabric interconnect Ethernet uplink ports and not via the out-of-band management network.
