The Media Access Control (MAC) addresses are unique identifiers assigned to network interface cards; each port on a NIC would have a unique MAC address. The MAC address is a 48-bit address, represented in hexadecimal format. IEEE allocates an Organization Unique Identifier (OUI) per manufacturer (the initial 24-bits), the Cisco OUI is 00:25:B5:xx:xx:xx. As a Cisco best practice, create custom pools (do not use the default pool) and create two pools of MAC addresses representing Path A and B as a minimum.
