Tip
Ensure that you have a Cisco DB-9 to RJ-45 console cable. If your client workstation does not consist of a serial COM port, you need a DB-9 to USB converter with the appropriate USB driver software installed, tested, and ready. Make sure you have collected the information that you require to input during the initial setup dialog.
The serial console connection is a standard VT100 terminal emulation connection. You can use your preferred terminal emulation software and configure it to connect at 9600 baud, 8-bits data, 1 stop-bit, and no parity (9600-8-1-N).
