Essentially, each Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnect runs an instance of the Cisco UCS Manager (UCSM). In an HA cluster setup, these Cisco UCSM instances (maximum of two in a domain) communicate privately over the L1-L2 links. These dual links are utilized as cluster interconnects to carry heartbeat, command, and configuration database synchronization.
