Cisco UCS Computer Hardware Naming

The Cisco UCS computing hardware (blades or rackmount servers) is numbered, for example, B200 M3, C220 M1 and so on. This numbering is primarily to indicate four key aspects of that computer hardware. Depending on the intents and purposes of utilizing the computer node within an enterprise, you should understand the following. Figure 13-12 explains the Cisco UCS computer hardware naming convention.

1. This is a Blade Server (B-Series) or it’s a Rackmount Server (C-Series).

2. This blade/rackmount server can scale to a maximum of 2-Sockets or 4-Sockets.

3. This blade/rackmount server can scale in terms of memory and internal storage capacity.
