Enhanced Transmission Selection

Enhanced Transmission Selection (ETS) enables optimal QoS strategy for links between DCB-capable switches and a bandwidth management of virtual links. ETS creates priority groups by allowing differentiated treatment for traffic belonging to the same Priority Flow Control class of service based on bandwidth allocation, low latency, or best effort. For example, such bandwidth allocation allows assigning 8 Gb to the storage traffic and 2 Gb to the network traffic on the 10 Gb shared Ethernet link.

Bandwidth allocations made by ETS are not hard allocations, meaning that traffic classes are allowed to use bandwidth allocated to a different traffic class, until that traffic class demands the bandwidth. This approach ...
