Upgrading to Cisco NX-OS on an MDS 9000 Series Switch
During any firmware upgrade, use the console connection. Be aware that if you are upgrading through the management interface, you must have a working connection to both supervisors, because this process causes a switchover and the current standby supervisor will be active after the upgrade. In this section we discuss firmware upgrade steps for a director switch with dual supervisor modules. For MDS switches with only one supervisor module, Steps 7 and 8 will not be executed.
