Summary
In this chapter, we went through the fundamentals of OTV and how it can be used as a data center interconnect solution. OTV is the latest innovation. When it comes to Layer 2 extension solutions, you can run OTV over any transport infrastructure; the only requirement is IP connectivity between the sites. OTV uses a concept called MAC address routing. It provides native multihoming, loop prevention end-to-end, and is simple to configure. With a few command lines you can extend Layer 2 between multiple sites.
