Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extender Connectivity

The Cisco Nexus 2000 Series cannot run as a standalone switch; it needs a parent switch. This switch can be a Nexus 9000, Nexus 7000, Nexus 6000, Nexus 5600, or Nexus 5000 Series. This type of design combines the benefit of the Top-of-Rack (ToR) design with the benefit of the End-of-Row (EoR) design.

Based on the type and the density of the access ports required, dual redundant Nexus 2000 fabric extenders are placed at the top of the rack, The uplink ports from the Nexus 2000 will be connected to the parent switch, as stated before, which will be installed at the EoR.
